Make your Mom a Special Bookmark for Mother’s Day!

Saturday, April 5th, 2008

Does your Mom love to read! If she does, then there are many ideas for making her a special Bookmark for Mother’s Day.

bookmark.jpgIf you are not a crafty person, there are some free bookmarks you can print out. There are 3 bookmarks free to print at ActivityVillage. They read “Happy Mother’s Day”, “I Love You!”, and “You Are The Best!”. You need to have Acrobat Reader to print these, and all 3 bookmarks print on 1 page. At All Free Printables I found 4 free bookmarks you can print. You click on the bookmark to print out your favourite. These bookmarks have a poem or verse for Mom on them.

Handmade Mother’s Day Cards

Thursday, April 3rd, 2008

I was thinking that it would be a nice idea to make my mother-in-law a handmade card this year. But, I have never made a handmade card before, and I really do not know how to make one.

While searching for ideas I found instructions for making 4 Mother’s Day cards at Crafty-Moms.com. card1.jpgTo make one of these cards you will need a blank greeting card, scrapbooking paper with floral pattern, coordinating solid piece of scrapbooking paper, cream or white colored cardstock, paper cutter, scissors, glue stick, computer, printer, and a sewing machine. I never thought of using my sewing machine to make cards, what a neat idea.

I found this cardcard2.gif at Making Handmade Cards. This card is made in stages and takes more time and a steady hand as it is made with glitter and seed beads.

I have not decided yet whether I will be making one of these cards for my mother-in-law. If I do make one, I will post an image of it here before giving it to her for Mother’s Day.

Coupons for Mom on Mother’s Day

Tuesday, April 1st, 2008

coupons.jpg When my son used to ask me what I would like for Mother’s Day, I told him that the best gift he could give me was more time.

“How can I give you more time?” asked my son. “By giving me coupons for some of the chores around the house that you would be willing to do.” I replied.  But, sadly, I never received any coupons from him.

Over at Mother’s Day website I found these ideas for Coupons:

  • Helping Clean the Tableware
  • Walking the Dog
  • An Uninterrupted Afternoon Nap
  • and more!

At Martha Stewart’s website I found instructions for making a Mother’s Day Coupon book.

There are also Coupons you can print out at KidsTurnCentral. You can print 3 to one letter size sheet. The coupons are for:

  • One Bedroom Cleaning
  • One Breakfast
  • One Free Hug
  • and more!

Small Quilting Projects

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

001599.JPGI was looking through the book Small Quilting Projects by Linda Seward today, thinking I might want to try doing some quilting again. I came across this Tote Bag that I thought would make a nice gift for Mother’s Day. images1835.JPG

This Tote Bag is made using the Granny’s Basket block pattern and strips of fabric braided together for the handles. You could make this using a different quilt block as this book has 40 block designs to choose from. The block designs include the templates and sewing instructions.

There are many other quilting projects in this book that you could make for Mother’s Day, including a Sachet, Jewelry Bag, Evening Bag, Shoe Tote, Letter Holder, Patchwork Pillows and more.

If you are looking to purchase this book, I found used copies for sale at the following websites: Abebooks, Biblio, Amazon, Alibris, and Choosebooks and World Book Market.
