Today I was looking for some handmade gifts and cards that children can make for their mom for  Mother’s Day.

I hope that everyone had a wonderful time crafting for Easter and of course eating all that Easter Candy that the Easter bunny left. It is now the middle of April, so time to start working on gift ideas for Mother’s Day.

I was thinking I would like to make up some flower pins to give as a gift for some friends. I have never crocheted or knitted flowers before, so I started searching the internet for some patterns.

I was looking through the book Small Quilting Projects by Linda Seward today, thinking I might want to try doing some quilting again. I came across this Tote Bag that I thought would make a nice gift for Mother’s Day.

This Tote Bag is made using the Granny’s Basket block pattern and strips of fabric braided together for the handles. You could make this using a different quilt block as this book has 40 block designs to choose from. The block designs include the templates and sewing instructions.

There are many other quilting projects in this book that you could make for Mother’s Day, including a Sachet, Jewelry Bag, Evening Bag, Shoe Tote, Letter Holder, Patchwork Pillows and more.

I found two patterns for crocheted scrunchies over at Craftown.

For these you will need 1 goody pony elastic; small amount of worsted weight (WW) yarn, any 2 colors of your choice. For pattern 1 you will need a size G (4 mm) Crochet hook and for pattern 2 a size D (3.25 mm) Crochet hook.

If your mother wears her hair in a pony tail, make her one of these lovely crocheted scrunchies for Mother’s Day.
