I am from Canada, and Canada Day is on July 1, 2008, which is coming up quickly. While browsing the Internet the other day I found some Canada Day crafts for you to make with the kids over at Today’s Parent.
A Handprint Canada Flag made using a white poster board, red water based paint and and paint brushes. The children will have fun making the Maple leaf with their hand prints.
Canada Day Pot made with 4” terra cotta pot and a pot holder and red and white paint. You can either paint the maple leafs on or make them out of red construction paper and glue them on. Use this Canada Day pot to fill with treats at your Canada Day party, and later use it for one of your favourite plants.

On Monday, May 19th, is Victoria Day here in Canada. Victoria Day has been a holiday in Canada since 1845 and is the official celebration of the birthdays of Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth II. You can learn more about Victoria Day here.
At Crayola there is a picture of Queen Victoria you can print out for the children to color.
My husband and I will be busy this weekend, working on cleaning up the yard, and perhaps going to a few garage sales.
Happy Victoria Day!!

Over at FamilyFun I found Plant Pals, a craft for children 2 years and up. These Plant Pals would cheer up your kitchen window this Spring.
Also, at Kaboose, I found Tin Can Herb Pots made from Tin Cans. This craft is for children ages 6 and up and is a great way to recycle some of those tin cans.
So, the next time it is raining outside, make it a craft day with your children and make up some Plant Pals or Tin Can Herb Pots.

Does your Dad love to fish. My dad loved fishing. He used to take me out when I was young. A few times I actually caught a fish. I loved catching them, but I hated the cleaning part, always left that up to Dad.
Here is a quick project for the kids to make, a Gone Fishing Chalkboard which I found at Family Corner. You will need a wood chalkboard, wooden letters, paint, paintbrush, etc. See the instructions and supply list for this project here.
At the All Kids Network, I found this Fishing Frame Craft. Decorate a unfinished wooden frame with a fishing rod and a fish and place your favourite fishing picture inside. For the instructions and supply list click here.
Check out some of these books about fishing for your Dad.
