Granny Square Afghan!

Monday, October 12th, 2009

The first winter that we lived in Pangman I finished off a Granny Square Afghan I had been working on for quite a while. This blanket is made from left-over yarn from my stash and from my late mother’s stash. I made up the squares in 2004/2005 and then finally during the winter of 2008 I finished up all the squares and crocheted the afghan together.

This past week I took it out and put it on the bed. It looks great and is very very warm.

I took a couple photos of the blanket on the bed. Of course, before I could take the photo of just the blanket, some of my cats snuggled up on it.

Farmer’s Market in Pangman, Saskatchewan

Monday, August 10th, 2009

Since June 27th, 2009, my husband, Phil and I have had a table at our local Farmer’s Market. The Farmer’s Market is held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. every Saturday during the summer. On our  table we have used books, children’s puzzles, knitted dish cloths and crocheted baby blankets. Below is a photo of the Farmer’s Market held on July 11, 2009.

Farmer's Market 2009

The above photo appeared in “The Weyburn and Area Booster” paper on July 25, 2009. Phil and I are at the first table in the photo.

At the Farmer’s Market this past Saturday, August 8, 2009, there was a pancake breakfast. The Honourable Dustin Duncan, Minister of Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sports of Saskatchewan attended the Pancake Breakfast and the Farmer’s Market.  Phil and I visited with him at the breakfast and later he came over and purchased a book from our table.

That is all the news for now. I hope to post some craft ideas later this week.

I hope everyone is having a great summer.

Christmas and New Year’s

Monday, January 12th, 2009

I hope everyone had a good Christmas and New Year’s. I can not believe that 2009 is already here. Time seems to go by very quickly, at least for me.

My husband and I had a quiet Christmas. I made supper on Christmas Eve – Turkey and all the trimmings. My son came home as well as some of my cousins from Regina.  On Boxing Day we went to Regina. We had dinner with my Brother and his family. Later in the day we had  supper at my mother-in-law’s.  Then in the evening, we went to see our Son play a show with the band “The Jumpoff”. My son plays electric guitar.

On New Year’s Eve we went over to the local cafe here in Pangman, Saskatchewan, Canada, for the New Year’s Eve supper, and then spent the remainder of the evening watching movies.

Now that the Christmas holidays are over I am gradually getting back to my normal routine. One of my goals is to post more often, and also to share more of my patterns and projects that I have made.

I thought today I would share with you pictures of our 6 cats.

Happy New Year. I hope that 2009 is a good year for you and your family.

Follow Up On Organizing My Craft Room

Sunday, August 31st, 2008

I have spent the better part of today sorting through the many boxes of “stuff” in my craft room. Sorted through all my wool and crochet cotton. Also sorted my sewing, cross stitch and knitting/crocheting items into separate piles. The next time I work on the room, I will be trying to find a place for all these things. It is amazing how much “stuff” one can accumulate.

I will keep you posted on the progress and when the room is cleaned and organized, I will post a few photos.

Tomorrow is Labour Day and my husband is home, so we will be spending the day relaxing.

Baby Blankets I Made!

Sunday, August 3rd, 2008

As I mentioned on my About page, I am always making something, so I thought I would show off some of the baby blankets I have made in the last few years.

I started making baby blankets when my sister-in-law was pregnant with her first child, and just kept going. I find that crocheting and knitting relaxes me. In 2005 and 2006 my father was very sick with Cancer and passed away, and I found that by making these blankets it helped me to keep my sanity and helped me to get through that tough time. I do not have an actual pattern for these blankets, just my notes as I went along. If ever I get the patterns written out so that someone else could work from them, I will post them here to share with you.

Anyway, here are the photos:

Organizing the Craft Room

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

craft-room.jpg I was going through some of the items that my cousins have given me from my Aunt, who recently passed away, and found some crafting supplies – knitting needles, crochet hooks, sewing basket, and wool. I put all the items in a pile and then looked in the room that is suppose to be my craft room and thought “where am I going to put this stuff”.

I have been in our new home here in Pangman for over a year now and have not unpacked any of my craft items or organized my craft room, as you can see in the above photo.

So, I set the items in a corner of the room and then started to look on the internet for advice on how to organize my craft room. Here is some of the advice that I found, which I think will be helpful.

  • Set aside different areas in your room for the different crafts you do.
  • Sort through your supplies.
  • Cull any of the excess items you have and toss those that you will probably never ever use.
  • Think about the type of storage you have and you need to buy – plastic containers, table, shelving, etc.
  • Get started.
  • Take a few minutes after you are done working in the room and tidy it up, so it stays clean.

Craftlink Resource Centre has a a good article entitled “Organizing Your Craft Room“. Also wikiHow has an informative article entitled “How to Organize Craft Supplies

At Flickr I found the Craft Rooms Pool which has many many many photos of craft rooms and more. I am going to spend some time looking through the photos and hopefully I will find some inspiration for my craft room.

So my plan for the next while is to get that craft room set up, so I can find what I need to start making some holiday crafts. I will post some photos here after the room is all done.

Wish me luck!.

No Blog Post Today!!

Sunday, June 22nd, 2008

I received bad news about my Aunt this morning. She passed away early this morning. My husband and I are leaving to see my cousins this morning.

I will try to have a new craft project posted next weekend.
