Canada Day Crafts!

I am from Canada, and Canada Day is on July 1, 2008, which is coming up quickly. While browsing the Internet the other day I found some Canada Day crafts for you to make with the kids over at Today’s Parent.

handprintflag.jpg A Handprint Canada Flag made using a white poster board, red water based paint and and paint brushes. The children will have fun making the Maple leaf with their hand prints.

canadaday-pot.jpg Canada Day Pot made with 4” terra cotta pot and a pot holder and red and white paint. You can either paint the maple leafs on or make them out of red construction paper and glue them on. Use this Canada Day pot to fill with treats at your Canada Day party, and later use it for one of your favourite plants.

Happy Crafting!!

  1. Being from the US (and not knowing my other cultures the way I should), I had no idea that Canada Day was July 1st. How cool! I would assume that it’s much like our Independence Day on July 4th, right?

BTW, I LOVE the handprint Canada flag. Very cool idea!

Thanks for your comment Barb. Yes Canada Day is much like your Independence Day. It is a holiday, so banks and businesses are closed, there are community parties, picnics, concerts and of course, fireworks.

  3. I love the handprint flag idea, I will need to do this with my daughter for Canada Day!

Hi Melissa, thanks for your comment. Have fun making this flag with your daughter for Canada Day.
